IONA RADA PASCHAL, born Iona Coley in Buckholts, Texas, September 30, 1924, went to be with Our Lord on Easter Sunday morning. Surrounded by her loving family, she died peacefully after a 12-year battle with Alzheimer's.
Iona graduated from Rogers High School and married Leon Paschal on September 27, 1942. They moved to Houston in 1946 and have been living in Pearland for the last five years.
Prior to her illness Iona was an active member of Park Place Baptist Church.
Iona was a loving wife and companion to Leon for 55 years and aside from providing a Christian home, was a wonderful role model for her two daughters, Patricia and Janice and a loving grandmother for her four grandchildren. She will be missed by her family and friends.
Iona was preceded in death by her mother and father, three brothers and two sisters.
She is survived by her husband Leon Paschal; two daughters, Patricia Smith, Janice Bourgeois; son-in-law Douglas Smith; grandchildren, Angela Hadley, Cristen Smith, Monica Bourgeois, Damon Bourgeois; grandson-in-law, Grant Hadley; two sisters, Lavonia Finney, Dollie Bailey; brother-in-law, Allen Bailey, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, April 14 between the hours of 5:00 and 8:00 P.M. at Southpark Funeral Home in Pearland. Chapel Services will be held Wednesday, April 15, 1998 at 9:00 A.M. Services will also be held Wednesday at 4:30 P.M. Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron, Texas. Burial will immediately follow at North Elm Cemetery. Cameron, Texas.
Janice Paschal married Timothy Bourgeois and lived in Atascocita, Texas until they divorced around 1986. They had 2 children: Monica Rachelle (me) and Damon Leon
